A message from the Superintendent of Ann Arbor Public Schools

On June 14, 2004, the voters of the Ann Arbor Public School District will have an opportunity to authorize a far reaching plan by approving a bond and sinking fund proposal:

  • Build a third comprehensive high school
  • Modernize all existing schools
  • Enhance instructional technology
  • Expand preschool programming
  • Create a model middle school at Scarlett and
  • Upgrade buses and musical instruments.

What began as a concern over high school overcrowding evolved into a complete examination of the student achievement and related program needs of the district. Now voters have an opportunity to approve a plan that is comprehensive.

Our goal throughout the development of the plan has been to provide students with a better learning environment, especially facilities and technology that have a direct impact on increased achievement. This plan impacts the entire district from pre-kindergarten through high school.

Dr. George Fornero
